If you have oily or greasy hair and are looking for an alternative to using the regular Alberto VO5 shampoo, then the new line of Herbal Escapes from Alberto VO5 may be what you need. The shampoo is called Alberto VO5 Herbal Escapes Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo, and it contains natural extracts that promise to moisturize your hair without over-drying it. As with most products, there are benefits and drawbacks that you need to know about before deciding whether this product will be beneficial for your hair or not. Keep reading to find out what I thought about this shampoo!
Is It Good For All Hair Types?
To begin with, let’s talk about whether or not Alberto VO5 is good for all hair types. The answer to that question is a resounding no. While Alberto VO5 can be a great choice for many people, it’s not going to be a good choice for everyone. That said, there are plenty of things to like about it, as well as some potential issues that you need to keep in mind before using it on your hair. If you have dry hair you should probably look elsewhere because most experts agree that it isn’t really formulated for use by those who suffer from such a condition. In fact, if you have extremely dry hair and decide to use Alberto VO5 anyway, then you’re likely to find yourself dealing with frizz and other unpleasant side effects after just one wash.
Alberto VO5 Herbal Escapes Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo Ingredients

Other Ingredients include Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, PEG-150 Distearate, Dimethicone Copolyol, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, and Methylisothiazolinone.
My experience with this product
I’ve used a ton of different shampoos in my day. I’d have to say that Alberto’s shampoo is on par with most of them, but honestly, it falls a little short for me. For example, I wasn’t crazy about how runny it was. I felt like I needed to use way more than what was recommended. It had a really odd smell that lingered too long and didn’t seem to go away as most others do. It also left my hair feeling dry after using it several times in a row which is something that’s never happened before!
Overall, just not sure if I would recommend it or buy it again… but hey, everyone’s hair/scalp is different so maybe some people may have better results with it than me!
What do others say about the product?
Melissa said : As soon as I heard that Deva Curl was causing hair loss, I threw away all of their products. As a result, I needed an immediate substitute for a reset wash shampoo, and I found that this V05 product is incredible. As a lady with naturally curly hair who adheres to a natural hair care regimen and practices the curly girl technique, I think this product is amazing. Why would anybody waste money on salon products when this one works just as well, if not better?!
Chris Said: This is the kind of clarifying shampoo you want to use if you’re going to be following the CG technique (curly girl method)! After you’re done, don’t forget to pick up some low-poo or co-wash to take with you!
Sharon Said: A clarifying shampoo is something that I haven’t used in a very long time. It seemed as if my hair needed to be absolutely free of any and all styling products. But my hair didn’t seem right, so since I had tried this shampoo before, I decided to give it another go. However, I recall the reason why I stopped using it today. Even after applying a thick layer of deep conditioner, it is quite drying. This is not a shampoo that should be used on a weekly basis; at the most, you should use it once a month. It has a good scent, lathers up quite a bit, and I found that even after rinsing my hair well, it still seemed as if there was a significant amount of shampoo left in my mane. A very little amount may accomplish a great deal.
Brittany Said: This past year, my daughter, who is still in her preteen years, dove headfirst into puberty and has been suffering from several of the less than pleasant side effects, including awful oily skin. Even though she washes her hair every morning before school and doesn’t put any conditioner in it at all, by the time she comes home it appears like she hasn’t washed it in a week even though she showers every morning before school. And on days when there is the gym, the situation is considerably worse. Given that she had such a persistent buildup of oil, the stylist that she went to; suggested that she should give a clarifying shampoo a go.
I’ve been using this VO5 Kiwi Lime Clarifying shampoo for about a week now, and I can already tell that it’s making a difference in my hair. When she takes gym class, her hair isn’t quite as smooth as it is the other days of the week by the time she comes home from school. However, on the days when she takes music class rather of going to the gym, she returns home without having her hair done and it looks greasy and stringy. Even after being combed through with a brush, it may regain its fluffy appearance. She likes the aroma and has said that she enjoys the way that it makes her hair feel. I really wish that I had recognized earlier that she would respond so positively to this shampoo since it works so wonderfully for her. Although it may be sufficient for some individuals to just use a clarifying shampoo once in a while to eliminate product buildup, this is the ideal remedy for a tween or pre-teen who has greasy hair on a regular basis and is between the ages of 10 and 13.
